Foundations
Camera & Exposure
Move beyond Auto and understand aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focus, metering and when to take manual control.
Private Photography Tuition
Individual teaching shaped around your camera, your experience and the photographs you want to make — from understanding the fundamentals to refining advanced technique.
A Session Built Around You
Private tuition works best when it starts with what you already know and what you actually want to improve. We can work on technical confidence, composition, architecture, long exposure, urban photography, post-production or a combination of several areas.
Sessions can take place on location in London or online. I also work with visitors who want an intensive private photography session while they are in the city.
Private Sessions
These are simple starting formats. If your requirements are different, I can suggest the most useful format after reading your enquiry.
Most Popular
Ideal for beginners and intermediate photographers, or for a focused session on one particular skill.
Deeper Session
A longer session for photographers who want to go deeper into a specialist subject or combine practical shooting with image review.
Extended
For photographers who want more time to develop a particular area of their photography through practical shooting, review and individual teaching. Visitors to London are very welcome.

How It Works
Use the enquiry form to tell me your experience, equipment and what you would like to improve.
I will suggest a focus, format and, where appropriate, a London location that suits your goals.
We shoot, review and solve problems in real time. You leave knowing what to practise next rather than simply having watched a demonstration.
Who It Is For
You do not need expensive equipment or years of experience. Some students come because they want to understand their camera properly for the first time. Others want specialist help with architecture, filters, composition or post-production.
If you are already technically confident but are more concerned with direction, projects, editing and developing a personal body of work, the Mentoring programme will probably suit you better.
