Information I collect

If you contact me through this website, I may collect your name, email address, telephone number if you provide it, the service you are interested in and any information you include in your message.

If you subscribe to my email newsletter, I collect your email address and, if you choose to provide it, your first name. Information relating to your subscription, such as confirmation of your signup and your subscription status, may also be recorded so that I can manage the mailing list and maintain an appropriate record of consent.

Basic technical information may also be recorded by the website, hosting provider or services used to operate the website, such as your IP address, browser and device information, for security and website operation.

How I use your information

I use information you provide to respond to enquiries, provide information or quotations, arrange photography tuition, mentoring, speaking, commissions or print enquiries, manage client relationships, and operate and protect this website.

Where your enquiry relates to a service you may book, information may be processed because it is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract or to provide an agreed service. In other cases, information may be processed where I have a legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and operating my business, or where information must be retained to comply with a legal obligation.

Email newsletter

If you choose to subscribe to my newsletter, I use the information you provide to send occasional emails about photography, composition, new work, tutorials, books, talks and related news.

Newsletter subscriptions are based on your consent. A double opt-in process is used, which means that after submitting the signup form you are asked to confirm your email address before your subscription is completed.

I do not add people to the newsletter simply because they have contacted me about tuition, mentoring, speaking, commissions, prints or another enquiry. Newsletter subscription is a separate and voluntary choice.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in newsletter emails. Once you unsubscribe, marketing emails will no longer be sent to that address.

Mailchimp

My email newsletter is managed using Mailchimp, a service provided by Intuit. Mailchimp processes subscriber information on my behalf in order to manage subscriptions and deliver email newsletters.

Subscriber information may be processed or stored outside the UK, including in the United States. Where personal information is transferred internationally, appropriate safeguards are used where required by UK data protection law.

Sharing your information

I do not sell or rent your personal information.

Information may be processed by service providers that help operate this website or provide email, mailing-list, hosting and other business services. This includes Mailchimp where you have chosen to subscribe to the newsletter.

Information may also be disclosed where required by law or where necessary to obtain professional, accounting or legal advice.

Some service providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, appropriate safeguards will be used where required by UK data protection law.

How long I keep information

General enquiry correspondence will normally be kept for no longer than two years unless it develops into an ongoing client relationship or there is another legitimate or legal reason to retain it.

Client and financial records may be kept for longer where required for accounting, tax or legal purposes.

Newsletter subscription information is retained while you remain subscribed.

If you unsubscribe, limited information may be retained where necessary to record and respect your unsubscribe request and help ensure that you are not inadvertently added back to the mailing list.
