Private Photography Tuition

One-to-one photography tuition in London and online.

Individual teaching shaped around your camera, your experience and the photographs you want to make — from understanding the fundamentals to refining advanced technique.

A Session Built Around You

No fixed syllabus. No generic class.

Private tuition works best when it starts with what you already know and what you actually want to improve. We can work on technical confidence, composition, architecture, long exposure, urban photography, post-production or a combination of several areas.

Sessions can take place on location in London or online. I also work with visitors who want an intensive private photography session while they are in the city.

What We Can Work On

Technical confidence and better seeing.

Foundations

Camera & Exposure

Move beyond Auto and understand aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focus, metering and when to take manual control.

Seeing

Composition

Develop a more deliberate eye for line, balance, visual weight, negative space, layering and the organisation of the frame.

Specialism

Architecture

Geometry, perspective, verticals, light, abstraction and how to simplify a building into a stronger photograph.

Specialism

Long Exposure

ND filters, exposure calculation, movement, planning, practical technique and common technical failures.

Creative Approach

Minimalism & Maximalism

Learn when a scene benefits from reduction and when it benefits from colour, density, layering and visual energy.

Finishing

Lightroom & Photoshop

A practical workflow for editing, cleaning, balancing, finishing and preparing photographs for screen or print.

How It Works

Simple from the start.

01

Tell me what you need

Use the enquiry form to tell me your experience, equipment and what you would like to improve.

02

I shape the session

I will suggest a focus, format and, where appropriate, a London location that suits your goals.

03

We work together

We shoot, review and solve problems in real time. You leave knowing what to practise next rather than simply having watched a demonstration.

Who It Is For

From first steps to specialist technique.

You do not need expensive equipment or years of experience. Some students come because they want to understand their camera properly for the first time. Others want specialist help with architecture, filters, composition or post-production.

If you are already technically confident but are more concerned with direction, projects, editing and developing a personal body of work, the Mentoring programme will probably suit you better.

Frequently Asked Questions

Before you book.

Where do London sessions take place?

The location depends on what you want to learn. Once I know your interests and level, I will suggest a location that gives us the right subjects and conditions without wasting time travelling between places.

Do I need a particular camera brand?

No. Bring the camera you actually use. I teach photographic principles and practical camera control rather than one brand's menu system.

Can complete beginners book?

Yes. A two-hour private session is a good starting point if you are moving away from Auto mode or want to understand the exposure triangle and core camera controls properly.

Can tuition be online?

Yes. Online sessions work particularly well for camera theory, image review, Lightroom/Photoshop, composition and structured follow-up teaching.

Can I buy tuition as a gift?

Yes. Gift sessions can be arranged for a named recipient or supplied as an open-dated voucher. Use the enquiry form and select Private Tuition.
